Zuda Teachers > JessicaFrom "scary" to "full of possibility".
Yoga is my lifestyle. My life is the way it is because of me, because of the choices I make. I create this story and now choose to live life fully because there are no guarantees—the end may be tomorrow or years from now.
A foundation in fear. I spent 35 years educating myself and climbing the proverbial ladder, which was free of risk--and boring. I found I was ok with settling for the status quo. I stopped pushing myself to step out of my comfort zone. I was living in the future. (I have been saving for retirement since I was 22.) I got lazy.
Then I came to Zuda. My dance teacher in high school introduced me to the concept of yoga, but it was the eight-limb path that opened my eyes to a practice beyond asana. I took the Zuda 200-hour teacher training and graduated in September of 2008. I followed that with two Baron Baptiste trainings, two Lama Marut trainings and a Tibetan Heart Yoga training.
During Level 1 with Baron, I was particularly moved by a meditation we did near the end of the training. The meditation offered, "stop being foolish with your time and with your life".” That was me!
I teach yoga because I love yoga because, for me, it embodies unconditional love. I teach to share this joy, happiness, and love and to inspire, empower, transform and create similar experiences for others. My classes offer you grace within challenge.
It is amazing what has transpired since letting go...my consulting business is taking off--I am a public health consultant on strategic planning, organizational development and grant writing/fund development. Yoga classes and other opportunities are endless. All of this occurred because I switched from viewing the unknown with fear to living each day fully.
My passion is being on a trail, running. I also love to run marathons and do triathlons. (My husband, Joel, and I race for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.) I love to play outside and have friends over in the backyard for BBQ and bonfires.
I'm from Grand Rapids, MN and I make a point to travel somewhere new in the world every year. Oh, and I love to laugh...laugh until the tears start running down my face.
May I care enough, to love enough to share enough to let others become what they can be.
