Holistic Anatomy & Zuda Assisting Program
*Pre-Registration Required for this Module

Part 1: July 17-20 and
Part 2:July 24-27
This module can be done alone or as part of the Teacher Training Program

This 50 hour part of Zuda’s 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered Teacher Training

program is open to anyone, teacher or non-teacher alike, who is seeking a deeper understanding of the body.

           

   This Module includes:

Anatomy for Yoga

Physiological Principles of Fitness

Injury Prevention & Healing 

Breathing Practices: Pranayama 

The Yoga Anatomy taught by Dr. Bill Prysock and Cori Martinez is a dynamic interactive demonstration of poses that will change your practice in a profound way.

This part of the module will explore:

  • Ultimate limit to the range of motion in any joint is compression
  • Concepts of muscular tension, bone compression, body proportion and orientation
  • Variations of the human skeletal system as it impacts yoga postures
  • How the shape, size and orientation of bones impact the accessibility of all postures
  • Difference of Yin vs Yang postures on the muscular and connective tissues of the body

Understand the postures from the perspective of function versus aesthetics.

Through the understanding of Anatomy for Yoga, learn why the more experienced you are in yoga the more likely your nagging injuries are self induced by your practice.

Explore and distinguish the physiologic principles of fitness

Zuda Assisting Program

Graduates of the ZAP program feel an acceptance and appreciation for their body on a whole new level. One moment of supportive touch can put you on the fast track to understanding your own body movement and power within.

This hands on training taught by Anne Marie will spark your true understanding of yoga poses and why we do them from an energetic, functional and aesthetic standpoint.

 This training is for everyone! Teachers and non-teachers alike will benefit greatly. Teachers will gain confidence in their interactions with students on and off the mat. Graduates of this program will be able to assist at Zuda!

Deepen your understanding of sequencing a well-balanced class, offering modifications, and preventing injury.

Experience and Learn about Yin Yoga: Explore

  • Why yin postures are important to our to our physical and mental health.
  • How to integrate Yin poses to complement and bring balance to a Power Vinyasa practice.
  • How and why yin poses prepare us for meditation.
  • A complete yin practice followed by meditation. (Workshop open to public)

Poses and Counter Poses: Learn and Practice

  • The basic philosophy and importance of a “counter- pose”
  • General guidelines for using “counter-poses” to work with the body in balance
  • Specifically, counter pose options for standing poses, backbends, forward bends, core work and twists

Explore modifications and tips for injury prevention.

  • Techniques for using props to modify poses
  • Specific details for protecting:
    • Knees
    • Hamstrings
    • Back
    • Wrists
  • What “finding your edge” means, how to teach it and how to see it in a student.
  • Why our “edge” is the optimal place for transformation and injury prevention.
  • Who takes responsibility for a student’s injury.

Study basic yoga breathing practices. Discover:

  • The technique, benefits and purpose of Ujjayi breathing.
  • Experience the effects and benefits of other yoga breathing techniques.
  • When and where to sequence in pranayama practice.

July 17th – 20th and July 24th – 27th

* each weekend is 25 hours, the entire module is 50 hours
